〈아네싸의 방〉은 드랙 아티스트 아네싸의 수행 주체인 홍일표를 그의 생활공간에서 인터뷰한 단채널 영상 작품이다. 홍일표는 드랙을 시작하게 된 계기와 아네싸의 이미지가 형성된 과정, 무대를 준비하기 위한 노동과 생계의 어려움, 그리고 홍일표와 아네싸 사이의 관계를 이야기한다. 작가는 가발과 의상, 분장 도구로 채워진 방과 인터뷰 장면, 과거 공연 기록을 함께 구성하여 아네싸라는 존재가 만들어지고 유지되는 시간과 공간을 보여준다. 코로나19 팬데믹으로 이태원의 클럽과 공연 무대가 멈춘 상황 속에서, 작품은 한 드랙 아티스트의 생존과 지속의 의지를 기록하는 동시에 퀴어 커뮤니티의 상실과 연결에 대한 이야기를 담아낸다.
Anessa's Room is a single-channel video work centered on an interview with Hong Il-pyo, the performing subject behind the drag artist Anessa, conducted in his living space. Hong reflects on what led him to begin performing in drag, the formation of Anessa's identity, the labor and economic realities behind preparing for the stage, and the relationship between Hong Il-pyo and Anessa. The artist interweaves the interview with scenes of a room filled with wigs, costumes, and makeup tools, alongside archival footage of past performances, revealing the time and space through which Anessa is created and sustained. Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, when clubs and performance venues in Itaewon had come to a halt, the work documents the resilience and persistence of a drag artist while reflecting on loss and connection within the queer community.
